A volunteer is called upon to assist in the routine. As the music begins, Jim hands the assistant
a piece of tissue paper to unfold and examine. Jim then crumples the paper into a ball and
places it on his own open, palm-up hand. With a magical gesture, the ball begins to bounce
around on his hand and eventually becomes fully animated as it runs up and down the length of
his arm.
The assistant is then asked to hold her arm and hand as Jim did; the same paper ball is placed
on her hand. Before long, she, too, is able to magically animate the tissue paper as it bounces
on her hand in accordance with her commands! The ball then jumps to Jim's hand and is
unfolded again to prove that there is nothing inside the paper.
For the finale, Jim twists the tissue paper into the shape of a beautiful rose which is then placed
on his open hand. Within seconds, the paper rose comes to life as it slowly rises to a vertical
position on his hand. When both hands are pulled away from the rose, it remains floating and
defies all laws of gravity. Jim passes a hoop over the rose to prove that it is, in fact, a Floating
Rose! A lighter is then touched to the paper as it quickly flares into a ball of fire. Jim reaches
into this flame and produces a real rose which the assistant is given as a souvenir!
